NOTES TO WAITING FOR TOMORROW

The song is about:

Waiting for life to give you a break.

Written by: Torben Pickering and Alan Binau

Style/feeling/reference:

Tom Petty, So Many People.

Overall comment: The demo is made mostly by Torben who makes very final sounding demos with his own and nice sound. Let’s discuss whether we want the sound and production he made or we want something more rock-ish and simple.

Drums:

Floyd pls. figure out.

Percussion:

Prob. The usual stuff, tambourine, shakers?

Bass:

Mika?

Guitars:

Demo guitars are very pop/funk sounding and define the song a lot. Let’s discuss and try out something more trad. CEONEO. More organic and underproduced?

Keyboards:

Prob. organ

Other instruments:

None on demo. Do we hear any. Harmonica?

Lead vocal:

The demo includes a narrator (normal voice) and the person (radio voice). That might not work, or maybe we need two lead singers. Or something else?

Backing vocals:

Sparse mostly harmonizing. Maybe some oohs in verse?

Solo:

The solo on the demo could work, but let’s try other ideas. The solo is very produced and popish, maybe we should go for more rock.

He spends his days working and sleeping

Not much time for laughing or weeping

He yearns for something he cannot find

It’ve come so far, that he don’t even mind

”I try to find it but it’s nowhere to be seen

Don’t say I have it ’cause it’s never been”

Everybody has it he can tell by heart

But it’s not enough it’s not even a start

Waiting

Waiting

Waiting for tomorrow

”I yearn for something I cannot find

It’ve come so far, that I don’t even mind”

Still he tries to keep standing tall

While he’s waiting for a….
